Course #1 - Portraits of Biblical Counseling are actually observations of real counseling sessions that were filmed with 2 cameras, one viewing the counselor and the other viewing the counselee, so that you, the trainee, can see how a counseling session progresses. There are observation forms to be filled out for each.
Course #2 - Then you continue on in our Contemporary Issues topics, covering a wide variety of issues we regularly see in our counseling offices. There are printable notes. You will learn the Biblical perspective on how to address each issue. By the time you finish both of these courses, you will have earned your Lay Counseling Level 1 Certificate.
Our classes typically run $150 each, but you can get both courses for only $199 ($100 discount). We also offer a monthly subscription plan for 12 months. You have 1 year to complete this course, and you are responsible to end your payments after the 1 year anniversary.
In this next year, we hope you will continue learning through our developing Advanced Certificate - Level 2! Many of you are already on track to flow right into Level 2, which can begin as soon as your final exam for Contemporary Issues is approved.

Tim Allchin served in pastoral ministry for 14 years before transitioning to overseeing the Biblical Counseling Center. He earned his Doctor of Ministry with an emphasis in Biblical Counseling from Central Baptist Theological Seminary. Tim's D. Min thesis was entitled \"Training Pastors to Launch Lay Counseling Teams in the Local Church\" and this course is the result of strengthening this process through this project.
